Winners of the 2020 Crisps Youth Art Prize:

Every year Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery hosts the CRISPS Youth Art Prize. Always inspirational, but this year has been amazing.

Aria-nominated and internationally regarded virtuoso indie quintet Topology, operating successfully out of Brisbane for over two decades, announced today, on the back of their 16th album release, the WE WILL RISE live performance co-hosted by Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery on Monday 12 October 6:00pm.

Seeing youth experiment and develop their skills in art is a highlight of my year. This is one of the most important exhibitions. This exhibition celebrates the creativity of our youth. It gives the youngsters a chance to be a part of something that could inspire them to continue on with their creativity or in later years pick it up again.

Silk & Steel by artists Maria Mastro & Gabriele Trabucco opens tomorrow, 6 August at 10am. An exciting exhibition which brings together the juxtaposed mediums of silk and steel: The beauty and exquisite gowns opposed with the harshness and creativity of metal sculpture. These works provoke and inform the viewer of their own life experiences, personal beliefs and values.

The WEEROONA sculpture group celebrates the use of Weeroona Park as a meeting point for a diversity of community groups. These include youth week concerts, Apple and Grape Multicultural Festival, art events for all ages, indigenous activities including NAIDOC week, ‘Joyous Under Eights’ activities, band practice and performances. In view of the above, WEEROONA is designed to evoke an appropriate complementary, celebratory/festive atmosphere consistent with the park’s use.

So finally, the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery (SRAG) is opening after 74 days of closure. On Tuesday, the 9th of June at 10 am we will open the doors. We have just finished the first return to the gallery induction workshop for our wonderful volunteers.

We reopen the Gallery at 10am Tuesday 9 June, with social distancing guidelines, training and procedures in place.
