Winners Announced
The coveted Stanthorpe Art Prize 2024 Award, valued at $16,000, was awarded to Melanie Sinclair for her photograph, The Bogan's Ballet. This outstanding photograph was deemed the most exceptional entry of the competition, capturing the judges' admiration with its remarkable vision and execution.
Category Prizes: Each of the six category winners received $4,000 in recognition of their excellence in specific artistic disciplines:
The 2D - Painting / Drawing category prize went to Thomas Thorby-Lister for his work Untitled (Bladensburg National Park).
The 2D - Print Media award was presented to Melanie Sinclair for The Bogan's Ballet, which also won the overall Stanthorpe Art Prize Award.
The 2D - Mixed / Crafted award was won by Virginia Keft for “Queering the colony in the Colony: I don't give a Flying Fox which team you bat for.”
The 3D - Modelled / Carved prize was awarded to Sue Wright for Modern Relic.
The 3D - Cast accolade went to Lorraine Dean for Veil.
The 3D - Composite / Assemblage category was won by Lori Pensini for Farm Yard.
The Patrons Local Artist Award was presented to Leon Ward for Tiny Worlds.
The Ted & Daph Reeves Memorial Prize for Young Artists, honouring young talent, was awarded to Charlie Jones for The Future.
The IAS Fine Art Logistics Changeover Team Award, chosen by the Changeover Team, was given to James Stickland for Graced by Family.
The Public Choice Award was determined by visitors to the exhibition and announced on Monday 18th November. Congratulations to Scott McDougall for winning this award with his work Winter's last light, Tenterfield NSW.

The most outstanding artwork of the Stanthorpe Art Prize 2024 will receive the Stanthorpe Art Prize 2024 Award of $16,000.
In addition, the Judges will award six category prizes of $4,000 each.
The Stanthorpe Art Prize 2024 Award winner will be selected from one of these six category winners, therefore they will be awarded the $16000 prize plus the $4000 category prize.
The six categories are:
2D - Painting / drawing: includes watercolour, gouache, oil, acrylic, tempera, encaustic, dye, ink, calligraphy, charcoal, monoprint, graphite, silverpoint, chalk, pastel, oil stick etc.
2D - Print media: includes etching, lithography, intaglio, woodblock, linocut, engraving, printed fabric, screen printing, rubbing, digital or film-based photography
2D - Mixed / crafted: includes woven fibre, embroidery, felting, wearable art (e.g., scarf), mixedmedia, collage, cut paper, naturally occurring and manufactured materials
3D - Modelled / carved: includes additive methods such as clay, porcelain, concrete, wax, ceramics; and subtractive methods, which include carving wood, stone, concrete, and other materials
3D - Cast: functional and sculptural e.g., glass, metal, slip moulding in clay
3D - Composite / assemblage: including jewellery, welded and worked metal, found objects, incorporating mechanics, light and sound
Other awards include
$2,000 Changeover Team Award
$1,500 Local Artist Award (residing within 100 kilometres of Stanthorpe)
$1,500 Young Artist Award
$5,000 Public Choice Award
With the exception of the Public Choice award, winners will be announced on The Awards Night. The Public Choice will be announced after the exhibition closes.

Jessica Bridgfoot
Director, Bendigo Art Gallery
Jessica Bridgfoot graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Monash University in 2003 and later completed a Masters in Arts Management at the University of Melbourne. In 2019, Jessica was appointed Director of Bendigo Art Gallery and has enjoyed an extensive career across the public and private sector, including time working overseas. Bridgfoot is currently focussed on plans for a major redevelopment of the Bendigo Art Gallery which will see the delivery of a second level dedicated blockbuster exhibition space, a major Learning Centre and Traditional Owner Place of Keeping. Jessica also holds several professional appointments, including currently serving as Chair of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Australia, the La Trobe University Regional Advisory Board and the Curatorial Selection Panel for the Macfarlane Foundation.

Michael Brennan
Gallery Director at Noosa Regional Gallery
Michael Brennan is the Gallery Director at Noosa Regional Gallery. Prior to this he has worked as the Artistic Director of La Trobe University Museum of Art; co-founding Director of artist-run spaces Trocadero Art Space and Shifted; and a range of other positions across University Art Museums, Local Government Galleries and Community Art Spaces. He has personally curated more than 50 exhibitions and overseen artistic programs that have cumulatively realised more than 500. He has also been the curator of the past three Floating Land Biennales and is currently working towards his fourth.
