#223 Intimacy | Deborah Marks

$7,000.00

Oil on linen

Height: 40cm. Width: 80cm.

The painting Intimacy is inspired by my interest in psychological aspects of the human condition. Intimacy encompasses the introspective nature of people exposing their beliefs, values and ideas with each other. This sharing of our vulnerabilities creates an existential crisis requiring selflessness, challenging our sense of self or identity.

My art practice is concerned with the issues arising between abstraction and representation. The painting evolves through a process of working and reworking the painted surface. The subjects involve figurative representations dealing with psychological aspects of the human condition - the conflicted nature of being in the world as internal/external processes.
