#91 Life and Death | Shannon Doyle
Acrylic on canvas
Height: 60cm. Width: 90cm.
Our planet’s fate is in our hands. As awareness of human-induced climate change grows, it is apparent that our fate, too, is in our hands. Butterflies are, traditionally, a symbol of metamorphosis or rebirth. In this work they symbolise hope via the metamorphosis from a world of consumption to a world of preservation.
By producing topical work about subjects such as climate change, the extinction crisis and sexual abuse, I expect an emotive response from the audience. My intention is to encourage the audience to participate in the discussion. I want to facilitate this discussion by creating work subtle in nature; subtle yet impactful to encourage self-reflection.
