#87 The Red Sands Garden | Ray Besserdin

$16,500.00

3D Sculptured Paper

Height: 94.5cm. Width: 94.5cm.

The Red Sands Garden are just like experiencing Australia’s Red Centre. A harsh wondrous environment supporting only tough but beautiful flora like Desert Rose, Kangaroo Paw, Scaevola and curious Lichen. Bottle brush flowers are a source of nectar for pollinating birds like Helmeted Honeyeaters.

In the 30 years since first developing his sculpture in paper, Ray’s signature work is a style that uses tearing techniques to create the form, life and expressions rather than precise, mechanical cutting that otherwise loses the feel, beauty and nature of the handmade cotton, mulberry, hemp and flax papers he uses.
