#831 Undone | Sophie Bottomley

$3,800.00

Cast Aluminium

Height: 26.2cm. Width: 14.3cm. Depth: 12.5cm.

Undone, bulges like a flower bud, its bulbous form deliberately evoking a sense of the body. Creating tension within the object, the sculptures’ sepal-like tips are ambiguously poised to touch or pull away. These are pointed, lustrous and foreboding. Undone captures a moment of anticipation between two bodies.

Sophie Bottomley completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) at Griffith University in 2011 and currently lives and works in Brisbane. Her work explores how the physical body experiences desire, investigating themes of longing, pleasure and physical sensation through the creation of sculptural objects.
