#785 Home, Fragile Home | Anne Mossman

$1,800.00

Ceramic

Height: 34cm. Width: 50cm. Depth: 40cm.

‘Home Sweet Home’, from my Grandmother’s time, expresses the pleasure and safety felt when returning home. My house — a ‘home amongst the gum trees’, is a wonderful habitat I share with many animals. But it has become a fragile home, its fate in the hands of our collective humanity.

Working with coloured porcelain, my work reflects variegations in the Australian landscape, especially the rugged eucalypts. The layering of new and old bark that shears off their trunks exposes brilliant new colours contrasted against the weathered remains. Broad and deep in our landscapes these giant beauties are synonymous with Australia.
