WINNER: LOCAL ARTIST

Height: 17.5cm. Width: 21cm. Depth: 21cm.

‘Raku’: Japanese word for enjoyment. My wheel-thrown, textured raku pot was wood fired to 1000º and then placed in sawdust and other combustible materials for reduction. The results of a raku firing can be unpredictable and exciting. My Chalcopyrite pot has the green, reddish, copper tones of the copper glaze.

My love of clay began in the 70s. In the 80s, I completed a 3-year Studio Ceramic Course and have had the privilege of attending many diverse and interesting workshops. I enjoy all aspects of clay wheel work, hand building, sculpture. At present my interest lies with the exciting process of Raku firing.
