#733 Reflections | Kate Higgins

$1,100.00

Pencil on paper (with minimal acrylic values)

Height: 56cm. Width: 46cm.

‘Reflections’ depicts the moment just prior to confession, where uncomfortable truths are confronted. Self-reflection often occurs in periods of dissociation, or where one feels separated from time and space. The immediacy and rawness of the pencil media lends to the subject’s sense of bareness and the universality of personal reflection.

Drawing from observation is a cornerstone of my art practice. I am heavily inspired by aesthetic qualities which may be described as quintessentially ‘illustrative’. In this sense, my work adopts almost a ‘storybook quality’; it aims to package a complex emotional story that is continued off the page.
