Double layered Lino print with Japanese pigments

Height: 83cm. Width: 69cm.

The Western Black Rhinoceros was one of the largest land mammals second in size to elephants, this species was declared extinct in 2018 leaving only subspecies of rhino all of which are now endangered. The last male northern white rhino died August the 26th 2019.

Rachel Head graduated from the Canberra school of art in the ‘90’s and has exhibited extensively.

After winning a major scholarship award from “the Hewia–Nakajima foundation”, Rachel travelled to Japan to study in the printmaking department under Kurasaki Akira Sensei at ‘Kyoto Seika university.
On her return Rachel exhibited in Canberra and Sydney, has works in collection in Tokyo, NGA, chief ministry office A.C.T.

“I love creating art, and I am forever growing and learning through this journey”.

More recent works have been dedicated to donating to particular causes the themes have involved preservation and conservation of environment and animals.
