#46 Fire and Ice | Margaret Ingles
Oil on linen
Height: 100cm. Width: 100cm.
In Fire and Ice the Red Riding Hood narrative has been superimposed onto this Arctic landscape to highlight the climate crisis we are all facing and it delivers a warning: if we don’t heed our experts and the evidence-based science, we will continue on a path of looming catastrophe. Ominous skies, fingers of melting ice and hungry birds all contribute to this bleak narrative.
I am a dedicated contemporary realism painter focusing primarily on figurative work. I am also currently working on new works addressing the climate crisis. In mid 2019, I travelled to Iceland to gather photo references of glaciers and icebergs for this new series.
