Goanna | Naomi Hatt

I encountered this Goanna on my morning walk in the eucalypt woodland that surrounds my home studio, on the Eastern Darling Downs Escarpment. As soon as summer arrives, they are a common sight here. The early morning light created dramatic shadows, which seemed to highlight the strength and power of both the monitor lizard and the tree. The dark of the lizard, and the light of the eucalypt creating a kind of tonal harmony.
Olympus SH-60 Digital Camera Shot 1/800 sec. f/6.1 40.2 mm ISO 400 The image was cropped and minor brightness adjustments were made using Photoshop.
