Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery relishes the opportunity to celebrate our local artists, including those with links to the Gallery. Joe Wilkinson is such an artist.
Joe came to Australia from Canada. His creative spirit has inspired him to design and build a unique home and expresses itself in many other forms of creativity, including painting. Shortly before the Stanthorpe Art Prize in 2002 Joe became a volunteer at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery. He works primarily on the Changeover and Collection Management teams and has curated many exhibitions, including several art prizes.
After 20 years and four personal exhibitions, Joe has decided to create an exhibition that encapsulates his art over time. In conversation with our Director, Mary Findlay, Joe will reflect on his focus over the years and how his career as an artist had morphed into different art representations. This exhibition begins with Botanical Studies, followed by Plausible Perspectives, then finishes with Abstract Contemplations and a series of small sculptures.
Please join us at the Gallery for a relaxed and informal ‘In Conversation with Joe Wilkinson’, with the opportunity to ask questions and enjoy a unique exhibition by one of our valued local artists.
