Winter's last light, Tenterfield NSW | Scott McDougall
Oil on canvas
Height: 80cm. Width: 120cm.
The vast, open skies of Northern NSW, with their ever-changing colours and moods, evoke a wide range of emotions in me – from awe and wonder to a sense of tranquility. The play of light and shadow and the way the landscape meets the horizon, offers endless inspiration.
I was drawn to paint the beauty and solitude of the granite boulder strewn hills beyond the township of Tenterfield. It is a surreal and magical landscape of rolling brown hills and corrugated dirt roads where some angry God has cast his granite marbles across the land.
