Let there be snow! | Miriam Innes
Charcoal on synthetic paper
Height: 20cm. Width: 40cm.
In the height of a steamy Queensland summer and despite my loathing of cold weather, I find myself declaring, “Let there be snow!” Childhood memories engulf me: glassy icicles on black, damp branches, soft crunching snow underfoot and a dense, peaceful silence.
Miriam Innes, an Irish visual artist residing on Kabi Kabi country in Queensland, uses simple materials like charcoal and paper cutting to create complex visual works on various scales. Her work alternates between exploring and investigating unnoticed urban and environmental settings.
