Early Harvest | Michelle Gray and Raelene Bock
Handblown glass, recycled metal
Height: 10cm. Width: 38cm.
An everlasting representation of perpetual abundance, with recycled metal vines and leaves combined with everlasting hand-blown glass grapes. They take much care and attention to grow but proffer the most delicious fruit to be enjoyed numerous ways, from eating to drinking.
Michelle Gray and Raelene Bock have been collaborating in their art since 2016. Michelle is a glassblower, mostly working in flame work glass over a mixed gas torch. Raelene is a recycled metal worker and painter. Together, we combine our mediums to contrast the delicate nature of glass in its bright luminous colours to the flexible nature and an infinite range of patinas in various recycled metals to create mostly large installations, often around botanical themes. We love the viewer to feel they are part of the art, or that our art is a tangible part of their world. We have exhibited works locally, nationally and internationally since 2016.
