Skeletons of fish with roses refers to the Mexican Day of the Dead. Images of skeletons are decorated with flowers, the spirits of the dead visit the living and visa versa. Prehistoric fish float behind the skeletons, graphite drawing of architectural mouldings refers to cemetery stonework. It might be Frieda Kahlo’s wallpaper.
Histories on a large and small scale, cross-cultural and personal, broad and focused, are a great source of ideas and imagery. Different sciences also find a place in my work, archaeology under the kitchen floor in this case. I work with varieties of media and techniques including printmaking and drawing, that will carry my ideas.
