Message from our Director
From Mary Findlay, Gallery Director, Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery
The newly refurbished Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery has quickly become a vibrant hub for our community, attracting locals and visitors alike. Our inaugural exhibition, A Collection of Seasons, showcased the beauty of our region through a curated selection of artworks. Over 2000 people visited this captivating display, celebrating the diversity of our artistic landscape.
Following the success of A Collection of Seasons, we launched the prestigious Stanthorpe Art Prize. This national competition attracted artists from across Australia, showcasing their exceptional talent and creativity. In just two weeks, the exhibition has welcomed nearly 1000 visitors.
A Community Effort
The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our community. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) for their unwavering support in revitalizing this important cultural asset.
A special thanks to our skilled and dedicated volunteers who have gone above and beyond to make the gallery a success. Their commitment and passion have been instrumental in delivering exceptional experiences for our visitors.
Thanks also to our Stanthorpe Art Gallery Society Committee who supported the SDRC in the journey to the refurbished building. The committed and hard-working staff and volunteers who helped the gallery move in, install A Collection of Seasons and then turn around and install the Stanthorpe Art Prize.
We also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our artistic community partners, including the Granite Belt Junior Choir, The Auslan Choir, The Occasional Players and Alan Smith, Stanthorpe Little Theatre, Granite Belt Choir, Contempo, The Graniteers, and The Late Shift band. Their performances added a touch of magic to our opening weeks.
