Free music workshops

In Stanthorpe, MZAZA will conduct free workshops for local musicians and singers of any age and skill level. Secure your spot via this link.

Workshops will be held from 2-3pm Sat 12 October.

You can choose from one of the following two workshops:

  • World Music Songs with MZAZA - Embark on a musical journey through the poetic and melodic world of Jewish-Spanish music and explore ancient languages. Born in France and of Sephardic heritage, the award-winning lead singer of MZAZA Pauline Maudy will facilitate an uplifting vocal workshop for beginners and experienced singers aimed at sharing technique and getting you singing in harmony quickly. She is joined by accordionist and choir leader Ricardo Bona and double bassist Gwenny Warnick.

  • World Music Tunes with MZAZA - John Robertson (guitar/uke), Greta Kelly on a variety of fiddles, and Tsoof Baras (percussion) will teach you a Sephardic folk song in a relaxed workshop that demonstrates some of the unusual rhythms and ornaments of modal music. Bring your fiddle, guitar, ukulele, accordion, harmonica, hand percussion or any other instrument. We provide sheet music, tabs and also cater to those who prefer to learn by ear.

This project is supported by the Stanthorpe Regional Gallery and Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
