Liz Powell: SRAG Artists Floor Talk – ‘Exploring a Different Archaeology’

  • Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery 56 Lock Street Stanthorpe, QLD, 4380 Australia (map)

My work is about looking at the intersection of landscape and history in a divergent way. I am interested in the traces of time and habitation that Archaeological investigations uncover, and to decipher these traces and put them into context science often comes into play. For my subjects I look at how the remains of settlement can be viewed in relation to the landscape and how the ancient nature of our landscape impacts on our idea of the world.

Hanging in the Pamela Bell Gallery is the first leg of the traveling exhibition “Prints from Borderline”. This exhibition will be the culmination is the first of a series of four print making workshops organized by Borderline. There will be a description of the printing techniques which include an unusual take on Japanese woodblock.

Due to social distancing limitations, numbers will be strictly limited. Please RSVP to admin@srag.org.au or 07 4681 1874.
