Artists' interest in the visual aspects of sex in universal and has persisted for millennia. In this talk, I will trace the history of erotic art from prehistorical times through the Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilisations, through the Christian era and up to the 20th Century, when the rise of feminism, challenged what had largely been an art form directed at men.
