Homes of The Guardians: Louise Grayson
Homes of The Guardians is a journey from the Queensland Pikedale World War I Soldier Settlement community, which was established around towns named after the Western Front battlefields (Fleurbaix, Pozières, Bullecourt, Passchendaele, Bapaume, Messines and Amiens), to the same places in France and Belgium, by photojournalist Louise Grayson.
It explores how Australian, French and Belgian communities share a dedication to commemorating those who fell in battle or fought to build a new life post World War I. On recurring trips to the sites of the Western Front battlefields in Europe and the Pikedale Soldier Settlement in Queensland, Louise explores the places she finds that share a name and a history.
